Andover Students Build Nature Haven: Lean-To Construction at Trail 4

Posted Date: 05/26/26 (09:00 AM)

Andover Central School students, under the guidance of instructor Zach Owen, have embarked on an enlightening project, crafting a lean-to in the school’s workshop. The logs will be carefully disassembled and transported to the Trail 4 site on Wednesday, May 27. Reconstruction by the talented students will take place on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29, overlooking a picturesque beaver pond. This project is generously funded by IMPACT: Friends Improving Allegany County Trails, Inc., with support from the Allegany County Area Foundation, Eddy Lumber, and others.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP by emailing Pauline Burnes at peburnes@burnesrla.com or calling 607-765-8543 to ensure adequate parking arrangements. For those unable to visit on Friday, please reach out if you wish to attend on Thursday, May 28. The site requires a 1/4-mile hike from the trailhead. Trail 4, enhanced in 2023 with a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Legacy Funds, mostly offers a firm surface, though some wet areas remain.
